Coated Guide Wire Components

The MCTec proprietary spool-to-spool coating process results in smooth, uniform coated wire components (coiling / core wire) for the production of guide wires. Unique about this process is that the wire is coated prior to the coiling step. The resulting pre-coated guide wire has a consistent coating, unlike conventional spray-coated guide wires that often encounter cracking of the coating. Due to its excellent control over the coating thickness, MCTec is able to guarantee a consistent diameter and tight tolerances. Coated core wire can be supplied dead-straight in combination with a thin yet effective LubriSkin™ or DuraSkin™ coating resulting in one-to-one torque. The coated coiling wire, available in round or flat stainless steel, can be coated either with PTFE (LubriSkin™) or a hydrophilic (SlipSkin™) coating. The LubriSkin™ coating acts like a lubricant during the coiling process, so there is no need for additional oils under the right process conditions. The coated wire comes available in a variety of materials, various color options, in different diameters and can be supplied spooled, cut to length or coiled.

MCTec has a good understanding of performance requirements for guide wires and is therefore able to offer extensive design support to bring your concept to actual product realization.
